Why Some Accra Schools Get Full Enrollment Every Term (And Others Beg for Students)
Two schools, ten minutes apart in East Legon. One has better facilities, a bigger compound, and a stronger exam record on paper. The other has a smaller campus and one overworked admin officer answering calls. Guess which one has a waiting list.
The one with the waiting list posts weekly. Not polished ad campaigns — just real classroom photos, a clip of the Friday assembly, a parent testimonial recorded on a phone in the car park. The other school's Facebook page last posted in 2021, a flyer for a speech and prize-giving day that already happened.
Parents research schools the same way they research clinics
This isn't unique to education. We saw the same pattern helping Accra Care Clinic fill its appointment calendar — people want to see the place and hear from someone who's already been there before they commit money and trust. A school fee is a bigger commitment than a clinic visit, so the research goes deeper: Facebook groups, Google reviews, a cousin's WhatsApp status from last year's graduation.
We wrote more on how trust signals convert in our Accra Care Clinic case study, and the same principle holds here almost word for word: show the real thing, let someone else vouch for it, and make it stupidly easy to ask a question.
What actually moves enrollment numbers
A Google Business Profile with current photos and replies to reviews (even the annoying ones). A pinned WhatsApp number for admissions instead of a generic contact form nobody checks. Short videos of real teachers, not stock photos of children in matching uniforms staring at a laptop. And a clear answer, posted publicly, to the three questions every parent actually has: fees, transport, and what happens if a child struggles academically.
None of that requires a big budget. It requires someone treating the school's online presence like admissions staff, not decoration.
Trust builder — We haven't run a school account yet, so we're not going to pretend we have a folder of school-specific case studies. What we do have is a repeatable trust-building framework that's worked in healthcare, hospitality, and fitness — and enrollment decisions run on the exact same anxieties as a first hospital visit.
If you run a school, academy, or tutoring centre and your admissions office is busier than your Facebook page, we'll do a free 15-minute look at what's actually showing up when a parent searches your name. See our service packages and pricing or message us directly on WhatsApp to get on the calendar.
